I APPLIED FOR THE EXTENSION OF MY RESIDENCE PERMIT IN SWEDEN. CAN I TRAVEL OUTSIDE SWEDEN WHILE WAITING FOR THE DECISION?

• Until you are given a new permit, it may be difficult to return to Sweden if you are abroad and your previous permit has expired.

• Applicants for a residence permit are strongly advised to remain in Sweden while their application is being reviewed. In cases where you cannot travel to Sweden without a visa, you may need to wait for a new permit to be issued for further travel.

• However, it is possible to apply at a Swedish embassy or consulate general for an entry visa that allows you to return to Sweden.
